Fieldsports 155
Well I have spent most if not all of tonight looking through Ebay and other sites for Cree flashlights that will fit on a scope ( 30mm )I know some cree lights on the bay is not real and they are sold by eastern friends that like to fill us brits full of sh1t. I have done a little reading and a few phone calls to see what lumen value I need in a cree light and the average comes back between 500 lumen and 1000 lumen ( Please correct me if I am wrong ) I wanted a full kit, to fit the rifle from pressure switch to chargers and batteries including all the mounts I will need. I see some of these kits are priced from about £25 from the UK ( I do not deal with china sorry, too many bad sellers ) and the prices go upto £190..... So has anyone got a kit they can recommend to me or has anyone got any recommendations on what to get at a realistic price. I need something with an adjustable beam "narrow to wide" Something I can look in the field with to spot upto 400m and be the right light to shoot with at 60m And lightness is a must with the fact "smaller the better" in mind. Filters are a bonus and I would like them but if not so be it. Any advice please as I am sick to death with looking now. I do not want to spend too much as in under £60 if at all possible. Thanks for any advice. Edited January 23, 2013 by Fieldsports Quote Link to post
moxy 617
Most of the Cree stuff is shite. You won't get anywhere the lumen output that is claimed. You can at least half those values. Get something like an led lenser and build up the kit. Most Cree lights are powerful but very floody at distance and not a tight beam. Again you will struggle with filters. A dedicated coloured led is more the like. The pressure switches are crap too and you will have countless fun if the torch has a multi mode. Lol. As to variant between 60 and 400 you will be lucky unless you have a wired system or pay a fortune for a torch. Even Debens stuff in my opinion isn't much kop in regards to their claims. However as a wired setup the pro max is a good one. Another alternative could be the laser genetics stuff. It will give you the range. Check it out. Quote Link to post
moxy 617
To add depending on what you get. 30 mm mounts and adapters are common as muck Quote Link to post

moxy 617
bwfc. How does the 1600 lumen fair with a filter on??? I have a feeling it drops down from 60 m to around 25-30 m max. Quote Link to post
Guest scramble
try matching a cree torch with the relevant size aspheric lens and you'll have more than enough distance and a really tight beam. http://www.ebay.co.u...984.m1439.l2649 http://dx.com/p/glas...ights-28mm-5297 The aspheric will need slightly sanding down on the edges but once its done you'll change your mind about the performance, you can buy drop in's for white or red so no need for a filter. the torch in the link has a red LED and will hold a nice tight beam well out past airgun ranges. moxy 617
Steve. If you are looking for something for rabbits and rats and are on a budget then take scrambles advice. Seriously no disrespect bwfc. I have most of the torches posted in the links above and many more. I'm not a lumen freak but have spent years looking for a good lightweight, wire free scope mounted set up. To be honest I have not come across a suitable dedicated " the one" You would be surprised at how much output an led torch loses when filtered. That's why an led coloured bulb is available. 800, 1000 , 20,000 lumen is all well but it's an intense light and with no option to dim these little torches your going to startle everything with a blinding light and they will soon get wise to your ways. I personally do not use white light for rabbits. Only as a last resort and a rat isn't going to sit happy for long with an intense 1200 lumen red led beaming on it. TBH the lumen output on all these torches are utter shite. A sales tactic with the wow factor and nothing more. My favourite, trusty and reliable piece of kit is the max pro with a dimmer. Even the new deben led stuff isn't that good, the light is far too white and does not filter right. You are really going to struggle to get something versatile enought for the ranges in your OP unless you spend money. I can put you in touch with an eBay seller who has the the ultra fire kits listed above. Full kits as you requested for around forty quid plus post. Happen a little cheaper but I don't rate them. I believe if getting out with the gun and lamp is something your going to do long term then spend your money wisely and invest in something that will last you and do the job proper. bwfc 164
Steve, it does drop as Moxy says, but it does the job for me in the field. As for Ratting as suggested you will need something less powerful.for close in work. Youve had a few alternatives now and all good advice. You did say you were on a budget,so i thought something half decent for 26 quid wasnt a bad shout Edited January 24, 2013 by bwfc 1 Quote Link to post
